It’s good to see that a larger percentage of high school students behave! And since my house is all electric, we’re having a hard time seeing those price benefits.

I am not so sure. Teenagehood is a time when teenagers should go out and experience, be exposed to risk. Jonathan Haidt wrote an interesting book from this perspective called "The Anxious Generation".

I agree, but smoking and drinking? Those aren’t choices I wanted my kids to make as teenagers. One celebrated (a little to well) on his 21st birthday; the other has never had alcohol. And that’s part of why I sent my kids to college. It was a mostly safe environment where they could “be” away from mom and dad.
